These are photos of a customers brakes that have been totally neglected & destroyed & resulted in the customer having an accident as the brakes (or more to the point, worn out & missing brakes ) could not stop the car in time before they hit the car in front. There is absolutely no excuse for this, the car should have had its brakes checked regularly at services & repaired as necessary along time before this happened & the customer should have stopped driving the car & taken it to a mechanic a long time before it got to this stage as the brake pads were totally ground away to nothing, the brakes would have been making a hideous grinding noise for weeks before & they could have saved themselves from having a costly accident not to mention possibly dangerous accident. This highlights the importance of regular maintenance & servicing.
Many examples of poor cabin filters
Many examples of cabin filters pulled from car's that have been long over due for a change. The cabin filter is a common area which is over looked and missed by many mechanics resulting in blockages with air flow, air conditioners leaking, air conditioning becomes inefficient and the purpose of the cabin filter is to reduce the amount of dust, dirt and leaves getting inside the car and improve air quality by filtering out fumes, pollens and exhaust fumes and gases.
If does not need fixing, Frank will be the first one to tell you.
Frank quite often gets regular customers returning for services when they are due time wise but finds the oil is still as clean as the day he originally done it, so in these cases Frank doesn't waste your money unnecessary & will advise leaving the oil change till next time to save you money & just do a safety check & minor service.
What can happen if your car is not serviced regularly
This is what can happen if you neglect your car & don't service it regularly, parts can fail & put you & other road users in dangerous situations when parts like this in the steering & suspension fail without warning.
More Cabin Filters
Cabin filters are a important part of modern day cars ventilation systems especially the A/C. They simply filter out all the dirt & dust & harmful pollutants from the air entering the cabin of the car. It has become standard procedure to check/ replace the cabin filter as part of servicing modern cars from about 2000 on, it is mostly a simple procedure to check/ replace these filters but I constantly come across new customers cars that haven't been checked/replaced for a very long time. Your cars A/C especially can't operate properly with filters as blocked as the ones in these photos from customers cars. This happens due to a number of reasons..., slack mechanics not doing their job properly, fixed price services where you don't get what you don't pay for as much as you don't get what you pay for as well!
The Technology Revolution
It seems that the more gadgets/buttons and features your car has the more computers that are on board. What was once a simple task can take days to repair not to mention increased costs. When purchasing high end car models be aware of the increased servicing costs, something we tend to overlook when purchasing our new toys.
Classic Cars
Here are some photos of classic cars that have come through Franks workshop showing a broad knowledge and skill of the new and old.
Cabin Filter
This is a comparison photo of a new Cabin Filter comparing it to a used Cabin Filter which the customer paid to get changed supposedly in a previous scheduled service BUT obviously was not.
Now the customer may have paid for it & it wasn't done, or the customer was not charged for it & was not done. Either way it was supposed to have been done at 45000km as part of a scheduled service by a supposedly trusted mechanic who had this client regularly for a long time. Who can you trust to do the job right & charge you fairly & accordingly for what you want & told what you are getting - Fixed @ Franks of course. :)
Get Serviced or Pay the Price
These photos are of a customers car that just lost power & died after re fuelling, after a lot of checks nothing was found to be wrong with the fuel or fuel system, the RACQ thought it was timing belt related but this wasn't the case either, after performing a compression test it was found that only 1 & half of the v6 cylinders had any compression, after removing the top covers of the motor it was found the motor was extremely carboned up from either or a combination of lack of servicing or the wrong oil, once the car got to this stage it was all too late & the car required a new engine at a uneconomical cost to repair , so this another case study to prove the importance of regular proper servicing.
Always get a qualified mechanic to see over a second hand vehicle before you purchase the vehicle. You need to regularly service your car because it WILL cost you more in the long run, in this case a new car...
